Ingredients

Equipment Needed

  1. Smoker or Grill with 2-zone fire

  2. Flat Top Griddle or Skillet (to caramelize the onion)

  3. Tongs or large spatula


Instructions

  1. Pat out a large burger patty, about ½ pound. (We typically smoke two burgers, using one pound of meat. The Burgers are large and can be cut into 1/4s to serve a crowd.

  2. Season the burger patties generously with Big D’s Q STEAK OUT and Big D’s Q G2 BBQ. 

  3. On a flat surface, lay two pieces of bacon vertically and two pieces of bacon horizontally. Weave the horizontal pieces into the vertical pieces. 

  4. Place one burger patty in the middle of the bacon. Pull the ends of the bacon on top of the patty and gather in the middle.  

  5. Season the outside of the bacon with Big D’s Q G2 BBQ.

  6. Repeat with other patty(ies)

  7. Place bacon wrapped burger patty on smoker at 275 degrees. 

  8. Smoke the burger until it reaches 160 degrees internally. 

  9. Melt slice of medium cheddar cheese on patty during last 3-4 minutes. 

  10. Cut thick slices of large onions.

  11. Sauté the onions on a griddle or skillet, until caramelized on the outside. 

  12. Toast hamburger buns.

  13. Brush the bottom bun with the Bang Bang sauce

  14. Brush Big D’s Q BBQ Sauce on the top of the bun. 

Tips and Tricks

For a crowd-pleasing option, consider cutting each bacon-wrapped, smoked burger into four pieces to easily feed up to four people, or indulge in one solo for a hearty, satisfying meal that's sure to curb any hunger pangs.
